FAQs

General questions
How can I apply to take part in the challenge?

Fill out the application form and provide us with the core information about your solution and your company (It takes approximately 20-30 minutes). If we require further information, we will contact you for a personal interview.

Deadlines are specified for each challenge separately.

What happens after my application?

The applications call is open until the date published on the specific challenge. Following application deadline, all entries will be evaluated based on merit. If your application is selected for further round you will get notified and invited to present your ideas and solution in a remote pitching session the latest 3-6 weeks after applications closing.

How does the selection process work?

Ventures with best solution proposals will be invited to an online interview (remote pitch) with our managers and experts to discuss their solution, technology, and provide an overview of business model.

Down-selected ventures will be invited to pitch at the final event in front of the expert team. For this you might be expected to provide overview of costs to size your prototype. All information you need to do this will be shared with you at this stage.

Successful teams will be then given the chance to enter cooperation with OMV, Borealis or OMV Petrom and develop a prototype of the solution.

Is it necessary to travel for this program?

You can take part in the challenge without travelling. It is not mandatory to attend in-person sessions through the screening rounds.

If your solution is selected for PoC at the later stage, you might be invited to the workshop/demo day in our offices. OMV Group will cover travel and accommodation costs (in line with OMV Group travel policies).

What is the working language?

Applications, documentation, workshops and pitches will be held in English.

Application process

We will inform you if you are among the top selected ventures at the latest 3-6 weeks after application deadline.

What happens in the remote pitching session?

You will have 10-20 minutes to pitch your solution, followed by a short question-answer round. Remote pitches will beheld 3-6 weeks after applications closing and suitable time will be agreed with your team.

About the program
Who decides on the participation in the proof-of-concept phase?

The jury consists of OMV Group experts in the business area and management members.

What will happen during the proof-of-concept/prototype phase, and do I have to be on-site?

During the proof-of-concept phase the goal is to validate the proposal/hypotheses, run pilots and field trials and develop a business case.

You can work remotely on the project. However, there might be some workshop sessions during which we would encourage in-person attendance.

What is the budget for the proof-of-concept phase?

There is a budget foreseen for testing, field trials and prototyping. The amount will depend on the project scope.

My company cannot offer the solution to the challenge published, but I would like OMV stakeholders to know about my solution. Is there anything I can do?

You can fill in the form here. The submissions are reviewed on a regular basis and if matched with current demand or interest from the parts of our business, we’ll contact you for the demo.
